Today, most homes have smart TVs, mobile phones, tablets, smart speakers, thermostats, cameras and doorbells. While these tools can help us learn and stay connected, they can also open the door to online risks.
Here are three easy ways to help keep your family safe:
Use Strong Wi-Fi Passwords
Your home Wi-Fi is the front door to all your devices. Change the password from the default, and use a mix of letters, numbers and symbols. Avoid using your address or simple words like password.
Set Up Parental Controls
Most phones and tablets have built-in parental control settings. These can limit screen time, block harmful content and stop unwanted downloads. Take five minutes to explore these features in your device settings.
Teach Kids About Online Scams
Help your children understand that not everything they see online is true. Talk about fake messages, strange links or offers that seem “too good to be true.” Encourage them to ask you before clicking on anything that seems odd.
