Nate Nelson frequents the Crystal Lake Golf Course in Lakeville to enjoy the calm mornings, and one of his favorite things to do is photograph the animals who call the serene landscape home. “If you go out there any time of day, especially morning or night, you’re guaranteed to see many deer,” he says. On this June morning, he was surprised to encounter an unlikely moment of connection, as well. “I’ve seen a lot of different types of animals interact, but I’ve never seen a bird land on a deer’s head,” Nelson says. He encourages community members to enjoy the beautiful walkways at the golf course and to keep their eyes peeled for the abundant wildlife.
