Some things were just made to go together, so when the owners of Lakeville’s Tapestry Coffee purchased Donut Star, which has locations in Lakeville and Burnsville, last summer, it seemed like a natural pairing. Both businesses are known for their innovative seasonal flavors, and the cross-pollination between the two businesses allows for even more creativity.
This fall, you can expect to find a French Toast-inspired star-shaped donut with brown butter cinnamon coating and maple icing, as well as a pink star donut with sprinkles. The new owners have also introduced a popular blueberry old-fashioned donut with lemon icing.
While Donut Star’s classic recipes haven’t changed, its coffee options have definitely expanded. “We installed tap systems, so that we can do cold brew on tap,” says Scott Van Daalen, co-owner of Donut Star and Tapestry Coffee. “We can do nitro cold brew and create some house-featured drinks around those.” Specialty coffee flavors include vanilla cardamom nitro cold brew, caramel marshmallow “Carmello” cold brew and malted chocolate cold brew.
