Stay active this winter with outdoor programming in Prior Lake.

It’s easy to get a little stir crazy in January, but there’s an easy escape from cabin fever in the Prior Lake area. Three Rivers Park District is offering a smörgåsbord of outdoor activities at Cleary Lake Regional Park this January for visitors of all ages.

Winter Activity Sampler

There’s a little something for everyone at the Winter Activity Sampler. Try out cross-country skiing and snowshoeing under the guidance of Outdoor Recreation School instructors and the Scott County wellness programmer. Get some useful pointers before tackling the trails on your own or try out a wellness walk that culminates in a marshmallow roast around a crackling bonfire. Snowshoes and ski rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Drop-ins are welcome, however registration is suggested.

All ages. Free. 10 a.m.–2 p.m. January 14. Cleary Lake Regional Park, 18106 Texas Ave., Prior Lake; 763.694.7777; threeriversparks.org

Kicksled Adventure Under the Full Moon

Kick up some fun on Scandinavian-style kicksleds under the light of a full moon. If weather conditions are unsuitable, join Outdoor Recreation School instructors on a moonlit winter hike instead. Registration is required 24 hours in advance. Children 11 years old and under must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian.

Ages 2 and up. $6. 7–8:30 p.m. January 26. Cleary Lake Regional Park, 18106 Texas Ave., Prior Lake; 763.694.7777; threeriversparks.org

Snowshoe the Mindfulness Trail

Take to the trails at Cleary Lake equipped with snowshoes and a mindful attitude. There will be mindfulness prompts set up along the scenic one-mile and three-mile loops for both adults and families to consider. Arrive anytime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Free snowshoe rentals are available but limited. Children 11 years old and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

All ages. Free. 10 a.m.–1 p.m. January 26. Cleary Lake Regional Park, 18106 Texas Ave., Prior Lake; 763.694.7777; threeriversparks.org

50+ Adventures: Snowshoeing

Join a cadre of fellow adults for a day experiencing the beauty of nature. Outdoor Recreation School instructors will guide the group through scenic winter trails. If there is insufficient snow for snowshoeing, the group will hike instead. Registration is required 24 hours in advance.

Ages 50 and up. $6. 10:30 a.m.–noon. January 28. Cleary Lake Regional Park, 18106 Texas Ave., Prior Lake; 763.694.7777; threeriversparks.org
