Gear up to explore the great outdoors this winter with Dakota County parks programming.

Cold temperatures don’t keep Minnesotans cooped up, and Dakota County is giving Eagan residents and visitors a few more opportunities to hit the trails this winter.

New Year’s Eve Party

Ring in the New Year right with an outdoor celebration at Lebanon Hills. A wooded half mile lake loop offers party-goers the opportunity to hike or snowshoe through nature, while a wooded one mile spur trail leads to a cozy A-Frame shelter. For a more accessible romp, there will be snow-free walking loops both around the Visitor Center campus and near the lake.

Warm up from candlelit ice skating or snowy sledding excursions with hot cocoa and s’mores roasted over crackling bonfires. Remember to pack your own skates and sleds. Snowshoes will be available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free parking will be available onsite and a free shuttle service from Woodcrest Church will run from 5:30–9:45 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase through Brick Oven Bus, Unbreakable, Youniverse Foodie and KCM Egg Rolls.

All ages. $8. 5–8 p.m. December 31. Lebanon Hills Regional Park, 860 Cliff Road, Eagan; 952.891.7000; co.dakota.mn.us

Trails by Candlelight – Sold Out as of December 6.

Enjoy an enchanting evening stroll (or ski*, or snowshoe) through trails lit by flickering candlelight. Warm up afterwards with complimentary hot cocoa and crackling bonfires.

At Lebanon Hills, award-winning cross-county ski trails, hiking and snowshoe trails and plowed walking paths will all be available for visitors to enjoy. Pack your own equipment or rent cross-county skis or snowshoes from the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center (on a first-come, first-served basis).
